On Being Orphaned

"The word 'kabataan' means children so our name is translated to "the house of children" charity.
It was also part of the name of the orphanage I lived in when I was in the Philippines.  The original name was "Nayon ng Kabataan".  I think it means 'place of the young' or 'place of the children'."

The Mother He Never Knew

A child’s tears fall
His heart aches the toll
of motherless years.

Lost in the place he’d known
With a map he could not follow.
Abandoned.
Where do I go to fill this hollow?

Once a child drowning,
wondering what she feared.

A mother will never know his thirst
Forever lost for he will never be her first.

His childhood dream gone,
No more tears will ever fall
For the mother he never knew.
